The Product Development Specialist located in Maplewood, MN will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Drive innovation, new product concept and development in the area of Integrated Circuit Packaging technology using the New Product Introduction process and VOC methodology with direct customer and strategic partner engagement
- Work closely with customers to identify opportunities and develop solutions
- Lead new product development with global teams to ensure on-time product launch and alignment with key customers
- Leverage and collaborate with the Corporate Labs to drive break-through solutions in material and process development
- Develop and defend intellectual property to enhance 3M's position in the area of Semiconductor Adhesive Materials
- Effective communication, interpersonal and team skills to perform well in a variety of cross-functional team situations
Qualifications

Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 3 years of combined experience in a Corporate Research and Development and/or Product Development environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science or related discipline--Ph.D. a distinct plus
- Expert in knowledge, use and applications of common Integrated Circuit material resin systems (e.g.acrylic, epoxy, polyimide and silicones)
- Experience formulating thermally conductive resin systems
- Experience formulating epoxy based resin systems
- Experience and knowledge of Integrated Circuit manufacturing and package assembly processes and industry
- Experience translating customer demands into the technical aspects of applications
- Experience with common polymer characterization techniques including TMA, TGA, DMA, DSC and mechanical testing
- Knowledge of adhesion and surface science
- Knowledge and experience with common analytical techniques including FTIR, XPS and SEM
- Strong analytical skills with ability to leverage analytical characterization and metrology to develop fundamental understanding
- Candidate should be a hands-on, energized self-starter and team player
- Excellent communication skills at multiple levels of the organization
- Experience working directly with customers in a technical capacity including Global customers
- Experience in customer presentations and bench-to-bench relationships
- Excellent consultative skills and ability to work across product teams and with the corporate laboratories, resource divisions and manufacturing sites essential.
