Job Summary
• Research, construct and maintain expert disease and procedure classification software, utilizing basic logic-based programming language independently
• Keep current and enhance software with fiscal year revisions and other update deadlines based on official regulations and guidelines including customer/marketing enhancements
• Maintain coding expertise in classifications systems in accordance with official coding guidelines
• Test/perform quality control measures on expert software utilizing basic logic-based programming language as well as other software interfacing with expert products
• Respond to phone or written inquiries regarding coding rules and regulations and how they are applied to the product with basic logic-based programming language. Interaction is focused on answering routine questions directly related to functional discipline
• Train and mentor less experienced Clinical Development Analyst staff in computer logic, file structure, trouble-shooting problems
• Provide escalated client support in regard to interpreting coding rules, regulations and functionality of coding pathways utilizing basic logic-base programming language skills
• Minimal travel required. Weekend or evening hours may be required to maintain project schedules and/or customer satisfaction

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma / GED
• Coding Credential RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician), RHIA, or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
• 1+ years hospital coding experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
• Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or Information Technology is a plus
Medical Coding Skills:
• 3 years inpatient coding experience is preferred
• Excellent knowledge of disease and procedure classification systems and thorough understanding of official coding guidelines
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, surgical and non-surgical procedures, medical literature and revenue-based regulatory requirements
Computer Skills:
• Strong computer database and navigational skills
• Experience with or knowledge of computer programming (HTML, Java, C++, etc.) is a plus
Team/Communication Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet timelines set in project plans and produce a high quality product
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to take individual initiative and responsibility for assignments
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new tools and technology
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information to other individuals and team
